Gardner Center Kicks off Rev It Up Challenge With Luncheon Jan. 28
CINCINNATIRev It Up 2015, a six-week online challenge for the title of "Greater Cincinnatis Fittest Organization, will kick off with a corporate team recruitment luncheon Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Revolution Fitness, 3652 Roundbottom Road in Newtown, Ohio.
Founded by local businesswoman Kathy Krumme, Rev It Up benefits research and education at the James J. and Joan A. Gardner Family Center for Parkinsons Disease and Movement Disorders at the University of Cincinnati Neuroscience Institute.
Cammy Dierking, WKRC-TV news anchor and triathlete, will introduce Rev It Up to local human resources and wellness directors at the luncheon.
The challenge, which will be held April 7 to May 19, is open to teams made up of families, corporations, workout groups or organizations of any type. Participants will use a website or mobile app to log fitness activities for points, while leaderboards track the results in real time. Any type of activity counts, including housework.
The team with the highest points-per-participant average will win bragging rights as "Greater Cincinnatis Fittest Organization and will take custody of the traveling "Golden Sneaker Trophy until Rev It Up 2016. The trophy will be awarded on Fountain Square.
Rev It Up is a sister event to the annual Sunflower Revolution, a family fitness festival that includes bike rides (100k, 40k and 25k), a 5k run, a kids run and an after-party. The 2015 Sunflower Revolution, which benefits the Gardner Center, will be held Sept. 13 at Yeatmans Cove, Sawyer Point Park.
