GI Symposium March 7; First 50 Registrants Free
The UC Cancer Institutes Gastrointestinal Cancer Center is holding a Gastrointestinal Oncology Symposium from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Great Wolf Lodge, Mason. Sessions will include educational presentations on esophageal, stomach, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, small bowel, colorectal and anal cancer.
Joseph Herman, MD, from Johns Hopkins University; Bert Howard ONeil, MD, from the Indiana University School of Medicine; and Philip Philips, MD, PhD, from Karmanos Cancer Center, will be guest speakers. The first 50 registrants are free; the cost after that is $75 for physicians (free for residents and fellows). Registration is required. Local couple uses royalties from children's books to give gifts to kids in need

A local couple has found a unique way to give back to those in need this holiday season. Vic and Laura Troha wrote two children's books together, and this year, they are using the proceeds to buy Christmas gifts for Hamilton County foster kids. The couple are both graduates of the University of Cincinnati's College of Allied Health Sciences and met the day they graduated.
