Graduate Research Forum Set for March 5-6, 2015

The Office of Graduate Education at the College of Medicine will host the 35th annual Graduate Student Research Forum March 5-6, 2015. The forum will highlight outstanding basic and translational medical research performed by graduate students in various doctoral programs in the UC College of Medicine.

A juried student poster exhibit will be held in the CARE/Crawley Atrium from 9 a.m. until noon on Thursday, March 5, while a seminar is set for 1 p.m. Friday, March 6, in Medical Sciences Building Room E-351. Michael Meaney, PhD, of McGill University in Montreal, will present "Parental regulation of the structure and function of the genome in the offspring: Implications for familial transmission and treatment programs.”

After the seminar, several awards will be presented to students judged to have delivered the best combination of novel scientific content and articulation of the material presented in their posters. A reception will follow.

At least two weather patterns increase headaches, UC study suggests

University of Cincinnati physicians and collaborators identified two specific weather patterns that increase headache and migraine risk and found the preventive medication fremanezumab (Ajovy) can reduce weather‑associated headaches. The findings will be presented at the American Headache Society Annual Scientific Meeting in Orlando.
