CINCINNATIThe University of Cincinnatis (UC) Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine will host a regional symposium Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at the Kingsgate Marriott Conference Center, 151 Goodman Drive, to tackle current issues in interventional pulmonology.
"Our intent is to provide an annual exposure and review of a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures currently practiced in interventional pulmonology, says Sadia Benzaquen, MD, assistant professor in UCs Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine and organizer of the event.
The diagnostic procedures will include convex EBUS, radial probe ultrasound and navigational bronchoscopy as a sampling for diagnosis, says Benzaquen. Therapeutic procedures in need of exposure and review are bronchial thermoplasty, endobronchial valve placement, thoracentesis with manometry and pleurX catheter placement, he explains.
"Institutional pulmonologists as well as community physicians can benefit greatly with an annual review of procedures and techniques, says Benzaquen, who will be among the presenters at the symposium.
Registration is required. The cost for a morning lecture for physicians is $150 while for others the cost is $75. A hands-on-experience session along with the lecture is available to physicians for $450. Space in this special session is limited to 20 physicians.
