Resource Fair Oct. 29 Provides Info on Services Available to Patients
The University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute is holding "A Night in Pink and Teal: A Resource Fair for Breast and Gynecologic Cancer Patients from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29, in the Center for Women's Cancer on the UC Health Barrett Cancer Center's third floor.
A number of community agencies, including the American Cancer Society, Cancer Support Community, the Ovarian Cancer Network and Pink Ribbon Girls among others, as well as service lines offered at UC Health, will be represented to showcase resources available for patients.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for our patients, their families and others to truly see and learn about the resources available to them from diagnosis through survivorship while meeting and connecting with one another, says Elyse Lower, MD, director of the institutes Breast Cancer Center and a professor in the Division of Hematology Oncology at the UC College of Medicine.
Eric Eisenhauer, MD, institute member, medical director of gynecologic oncology and a professor at the UC College of Medicine, agrees, adding that its a beneficial and positive event for patients and their families to gather and learn.
"Were so pleased to offer this first-time event for our patients or others in the community who may want to find out more about breast or gynecologic cancers, he says. "The center, which officially opened this summer, serves as a facility for dedicated womens cancer care, and were happy to be using it as a space dedicated not only to treatment but also for education and communication among patients, their families and other interested parties.
As part of the event, light refreshments, raffles and free integrative medicine demonstrations will be available.
