Thousands to Walk Ahead for Brain Tumor Research Sunday

CINCINNATI—On Sunday, Oct. 25, more than 3,000 walkers and runners will pound the pavement in the sixth annual Walk Ahead for a Brain Tumor Cure. Already, the 2015 Walk Ahead has raised more than $276,000 for education and research at the Brain Tumor Center at the University of Cincinnati (UC) Neuroscience Institute and the UC Cancer Institute. The institutes are collaborations of the UC College of Medicine and UC Health.

Walk Ahead for a Brain Tumor Cure has raised more than $1.2 million for Cincinnati programs since its inception in 2010.

An estimated 215,000 brain tumors are diagnosed in the United States each year; of these, 45,000 have originated in the brain and 170,000 have metastasized from other parts of the body.

Patients, physicians and researchers of the UC Brain Tumor Center will be available for interviews before, during and after the Oct. 25 event.
