College of Medicine Patent Recipients Recognized at Fifth Third Arena
The UC Office of Research and the Office of Entrepreneurial Affairs and Technology Commercialization recognized faculty who received patents in 2015 during the Jan. 21 mens basketball game at Fifth Third Arena.
Honorees from the College of Medicine included:
- Ambikaipakan Balasubramaniam, PhD, professor in the Department of Surgery, for "Compounds for Control of Appetite.
- Sean Davidson, PhD, and Patrick Tso, PhD, both professors in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine; Fei Wang, Research Instructor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine; and Stephen Woods, PhD, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry, for "Apolipoprotein AIV as an Antidiabetic Peptide.
- Sid Khosla, MD, associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology, and Liran Oren, for "Acoustic Pressure Inducers and Methods for Treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
- Evangelia Kranias, PhD, professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Cell Biophysics, for "Modulating Phosphatase Activity in Cardiac Cells.
- Allison Weiss, PhD, professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology, for "Synthetic Ligands for the Differentiation of Closely Related Toxins and Pathogens.
