Radiation Safety Office to Move to Medical Sciences Building

The University of Cincinnati (UC) Radiation Safety Office is moving from its current location on Panzeca Way between Wherry Hall and the Kettering Lab Complex to the Medical Sciences Building (MSB). The move will take place on March 22 and 23.

The relocation of the Radiation Safety Office is part of the larger project to tear down Wherry Hall for the construction of the Health Sciences Building.  More information on that project will be released in the coming weeks. The offices and training space for administration personnel and technicians in the Radiation Safety Office will be permanently relocated to the 5000 level of MSB. The office’s main telephone number – 558-4110 – remains unchanged and impacted employees will retain their current office phone numbers in the move.

The mission of the University of Cincinnati (UC) Radiation Safety Office is to provide the means necessary for personnel of both UC and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center to protect themselves, their coworkers, the general public and the environment from detrimental effects of radioactive materials and radiation generating equipment used under the University’s Radiation Control and Safety Program.  The Office coordinates tracking of all radioactive materials, promotes interdepartmental coordination, cooperation and communication while teaching and enforcing regulatory compliance.

The Radiation Control and Safety Office covers radiation safety at UC campuses, Cincinnati Children’s, Shriners Hospitals for Children--Cincinnati and Hoxworth Blood Center.
