Free Pancreatic Cancer Symposium Feb. 18 Provides Info on Latest Research

CINCINNATI—To educate on the latest in pancreatic cancer research as well as the spectrum of the illness, including screening, evaluation, personalized treatment approaches and survivorship care, the University of Cincinnati (UC) Cancer Institute is hosting a free educational event for patients, survivors, their families and the community.

The event, being held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday Feb. 18, at the Cooper Creek Event and Conference Center, 4040 Cooper Rd., Blue Ash, is free and open to the public. The event will involve presentations from experts within the institute at UC, the community, patients and more.

Talks will touch on symptom management, nutritional guidelines and the patient’s experience of living with and surviving pancreatic cancer. Check presentations by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and GiveHope and BSI Engineering, Inc., organizations that support research at the institute, will also be part of the day’s agenda.

"This event not only allows us to inform patients about the innovative research and treatments available at the UC Cancer Institute but also to rally together and show our support in fighting this disease,” says Jordan Kharofa, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the UC College of Medicine, a UC Health radiation oncologist and a member of the UC Cancer Institute. "We’re excited to host this conference to educate and empower patients and members of the community and to showcase our strengths locally.”

Light refreshments will be provided.
