Beth Ann Clayton, assistant professor of clinical nursing at the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Nursing, and director of the Nurse Anesthesia program, has been awarded the 2017 Researcher of the Year by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
The award was given to the AANA Foundation Closed Claims Research Team, of which Clayton is a part, for making a significant contribution to the practice of anesthesia through clinical research and for incorporating research into her professional career. Since its inception in 1995, the team has produced over 100 presentations, 25 posters and 10 published articles addressing anesthesia adverse outcomes.
Based on this work, Clayton was selected to review the draft document Analgesic and Anesthesia Care for the Obstetric Patient, Practice Guidelines, which is up for comments and should be implemented in late October.
