Nominations Being Accepted for the Florence Nightingale Awards

The University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Nursing is now accepting nominations for the 26th annual Florence Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing.

The awards recognize registered nurses who demonstrate excellence in providing direct patient care. Nominations are accepted from patients, family and friends of patients, colleagues, physicians and other health care workers. Nurses previously nominated may be re-nominated for this award.

Nominations are due Friday, Feb. 2, 2018. The final selection of award recipients will be made by a committee of the UC College of Nursing Board of Advisors. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Cincinnati.

Local couple uses royalties from children's books to give gifts to kids in need

A local couple has found a unique way to give back to those in need this holiday season. Vic and Laura Troha wrote two children's books together, and this year, they are using the proceeds to buy Christmas gifts for Hamilton County foster kids. The couple are both graduates of the University of Cincinnati's College of Allied Health Sciences and met the day they graduated.
