Nippert Stadium: The 1940s

When the 1940s arrived in Cincinnati, the Bearcats were competing without a conference. Gone were the days of head coaches Dana King and Russ Cohen. London Gant’s career had long since been ended by a string of unfortunate injuries. After a 37-16-1 tear through the first half of the 1930s, the program collapsed to a 9-23-5 mark to close out the decade.

Nippert Stadium: The early years

Cincinnati athletic director Dr. Arch Carson founded Cincinnati football in 1885. The team played its early home games off campus, in venues like the Reds’ League Park—the future site of Crosley Field. By 1895, Carson realized the program needed a venue at its home in Clifton.

UC welcomes record-breaking student body

The University of Cincinnati anticipates record enrollment as classes begin Monday, Aug. 26, with a projected 52,000 students — a 2.1% increase over last year. Growth continues but is more strategic with the university attracting more online learners, a greater number of transfer and first-generation students along with a stronger student presence on regional campuses at Blue Ash and Clermont.

Co-op's $88 million impact

In the 2023-24 academic year, more than 8,300 UC students earned an estimated $88.8 million collectively through paid co-op experiences, according to self-reported data. That averages to nearly $10,700 per student per semester. It’s an 18% increase in wages from the last reported co-op data.
