UC College of Engineering and Applied Science receives $10 million scholarship estate gift

A $10 million estate gift from Ray Brooks, CEAS ’83, and Connie Brooks will benefit generations of students at the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science. The impact of the Connie and Ray Brooks Scholarship Fund, originally established in 2018 with a five-figure donation, will be far-reaching for UC students and the engineering industry.

Two University of Cincinnati colleges benefit from $4 million gift

University of Cincinnati alumni Mohammad H. Qayoumi, MS ’79, MS ’80, MBA ’84, PhD ’83 and Najia Karim, BS ’82, MEd ’83, RD, have made a $4 million gift supporting two of the university’s colleges. A donation from the couple establishes a fund and an endowed chair at the College of Engineering and Applied Science, as well as an endowed chair at the College of Allied Health Sciences.

Kroger donation elevates education and broadens audiology outreach

October 15, 2025

Jessica Prewitt, AuD, the lead audiologist at the University of Cincinnati Speech and Hearing Clinic, opened her phone to find a message from her husband, Kroger pharmacist Ben Prewitt, PharmD. He had some unexpected news: Kroger had a surplus of over-the-counter hearing devices designed to help with mild-to-moderate hearing loss and were looking for a place to donate the supplies.

L.I.F.E. Foundation gifts $5 million to UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute

A local foundation focused on improving health outcomes for patients with brain and neurodegenerative diseases has made a $5 million gift to the University of Cincinnati Center for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Disease Research at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute.

Hoffman Scholars begin a year of exploration and engagement

The second year of the Hoffman Honors Scholars program (HHS) is in full swing. This fall, University of Cincinnati faculty and staff welcomed 22 new students as the second cohort of the Hoffman Honors Scholars program (HHS). Students from UC’s College of Arts and Sciences, College-Conservatory of Music and the Carl H. Lindner College of Business are provided tuition, room and board and a plethora of community tools and skill-training.
