CECH Chats podcast speaks with professors and students involved in important criminal justice research

Funded by a 2024 grant award from the Department of Justice/Office of Violence Against Women, CECH's School of Criminal Justice and the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Allied Health Sciences have embarked on an ambitious research project titled "Language Access Barriers to Justice Among Victims of Violence Against Women with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.” The project provides students across the whole academic lifespan, from undergraduate to doctoral studies, with opportunities to participate in functions of the research and gain hands-on experience with their field of study.

UC students create and launch satellites

At the College of Engineering and Applied Science, students can enrich their experience with dozens of student organizations on campus. One of these organizations, CubeCats, provides the unique opportunity to design, build, and operate flightworthy aerospace systems like CubeSats and High-Altitude Balloons (HAB). With their most recent HAB launch, “Project Floppa,” the group reached new heights.

College of Nursing highlights doctoral work, promotes a culture of scholarship

The University of Cincinnati College of Nursing, in partnership with the Beta Iota Chapter of Sigma, the Nursing Honor Society, is providing a platform for doctoral nursing students to showcase their research. The 5th Doctoral Student Project Showcase will take place virtually on April 10, granting Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students the opportunity to present their work and offer the public an insight into the diversity and quality of student research happening in the college.

UC hosts 3D Printer Showcase alongside the 75th annual OAS Regional Science Day

On Saturday, March 15, the University of Cincinnati hosted the 75th annual Regional Science Day, a presentation of the Ohio Academy of Science (OAS), in the Tangeman University Center. This year’s Regional Science Day event was made extra special by the co-presentation of UC’s 3d Printers Showcase, an event put on by the 3d Printers Club program, which is sponsored by Greater Cincinnati STEM Collaborative in the UC Center for Youth Futures.

Study: Machine learning aids in detection of ‘brain tsunamis’

The University of Cincinnati’s Jed Hartings and colleagues recently published research in the journal Scientific Reports detailing how automation and machine learning can aid clinicians treating patients with spreading depolarizations, sometimes referred to as “brain tsunamis.”
