Employee intranet launched at University of Cincinnati

After a successful launch of pilot sites, the movement to build out UC’s first intranet is underway

On Fri., Nov. 1, the University of Cincinnati launched its first-ever employee intranet, named Bearcats Landing, open to all university faculty and staff. Built on the Office 365 platform, this new digital workspace and internal communications channel will provide a common online gateway to facilitate business practices and unify both information sharing and collaboration across the university.

“Bearcats Landing will become an important tool to inform and engage faculty and staff, which will help grow an inclusive university environment. We’re excited to see it launched, and proud that it supports the university’s Next Lives Here strategic direction,” says Kristi Nelson, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost.

UC faculty and staff can access Bearcats Landing at my.uc.edu using any web browser. A link has also been placed at the bottom of UC’s website uc.edu under the header, UC Tools.

“Bearcats Landing provides a platform to enable work efficiencies, and build a sense of community among our many campuses,” adds Bob Ambach, senior vice president for administration and finance. “I look forward to the development of additional sites and the future evolution of our online digital workspace.”

Screen grab of Bearcats Landing

The new faculty/staff intranet at UC launched Nov. 1, 2019. This screen grab illustrates the key information available to visitors upon login. The search and global navigation allows access to tools and resources from across the Bearcats Landing sites. The News and Announcements section keeps visitors up to date with current events at the university. Lastly, UC faculty and staff can view workshops, events, and leadership announcements directly from the homepage. Visit my.uc.edu today to view a video walkthrough and virtual ribbon cutting.

During the November launch, four intranet sites and the Bearcats Landing homepages became available to all faculty, staff, student workers, emeriti and university affiliates. Visitors to my.uc.edu also found a centralized location for academic and business tools, employee resources, as well as training, workshops and university events. The site amassed over 1,700 visits in the first day.

“I was so impressed by how quickly the team created Bearcats Landing,” says Emily Sullivan, marketing and promotions coordinator in the Division of Experience-Based Learning & Career Education. “They were able to gather together a wealth of information in a short three-month period. This is a great resource.”

Additional colleges and units will be scheduled to join the pilot groups on Bearcats Landing in the coming months. Throughout 2019 and 2020 users will see more information migrated from UC’s public website to Bearcats Landing.
