WVXU: Legal status of marijuana
It is now legal for qualified patients to purchase medical marijuana in the state of Ohio. The city of Cincinnati has decriminalized smaller quantities of possession of the drug. But legal status of the cannabis plant remains radically different at the local, state and federal levels. So how does local law enforcement decide how to handle the situation when they encounter citizens in possession of marijuana?
Latrice Montgomery, assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, who conducts research on marijuana use, weighs in.
