Local music spotlight: Nostalgia Wine and Jazz Lounge opens in OTR
Owned by Tammie Scott, the new space features live music programmed by CCM alum Marcus Cash
Inspired by stories her grandmother used to tell about Cincinnati's Cotton Club, Tammie Scott decided to open Nostalgia Wine and Jazz Lounge in Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. The intimate live jazz space features performances that are arranged by Marcus Cash (MM Jazz Studies, '20), the bar's programming manager and Scott's younger brother.
Cincinnati Magazine recently featured Scott's retro-inspired wine and jazz lounge, which opened on August 21 at 1432 Vine Street. Read the full story.
The space will host traditional live jazz performances on Thursdays and Sundays, live music that's "a synergy of jazz and soul" on Fridays and Saturdays, and jazz-inspired DJs on Wednesdays, according to Cincinnati Magazine. Scott was inspired by the live jazz bars in Washington D.C. and by stories of Cincinnati's West End Cotton Club, the city's only integrated night club that hosted major jazz acts from the 1930s to 1950s.
“It felt important to me to maintain musical historic and jazz culture in this part of the city specifically,” Scott told Cincinnati Magazine. “I can’t see myself doing this anywhere else.”
The new wine and jazz lounge opened on Aug. 21 with a performance by Cincinnati artist Lauren Eylise. Visit Nostalgia's website for more information on upcoming events.
