Slice Night becomes Slice Week
Event benefiting UC Cancer Center goes virtual
Cincinnati Magazine’s annual Slice Night has previously been an evening of all-you-can-eat pizza at Yeatman's Cove, but it is going virtual for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has also been extended to a weeklong celebration. The now virtual fundraising event has become Slice Week 2020 and is set for Sunday, September 20 through Thursday, September 24, 2020.
Now in its seventh year, Cincinnati Magazine’s Slice Week 2020 event features pizza from eight of Greater Cincinnati’s most popular pizzerias with 100% of the proceeds benefiting cancer patient care at the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center.
“Though we are unable to gather to eat copious amounts of pizza together along the riverfront this year, we have put together what we believe to be the next best thing, all for an incredible cause,” said Ivy Bayer, Publisher of Cincinnati Magazine. “Slice Week is a simple and delicious way to not only support the local pizzerias you love during these tough times, but you can also feel good knowing that 100% of your pizza voucher dollars are directly benefiting the wonderful work of the UC Cancer Center.”
To participate in Slice Week, just visit cincinnatimagazine.com/slice for information on how to purchase $15 vouchers from each of the participating local pizzerias. Each voucher is valid for one medium cheese or pepperoni pizza redeemable for dine-in or carryout during Slice Week only and also includes a complimentary one-year subscription to Cincinnati Magazine.
Pizza vouchers are on sale now, and the first 100 donors will receive an exclusive “VIP swag box” of Slice Week goodies sent directly to their homes. Additional donations above and beyond voucher purchases in support of the UC Cancer Center will also be accepted by the University of Cincinnati Foundation at impact.uc.edu/slice. Voucher quantities are limited and only available while supplies last.

Funds raised through Slice Week will support UC Cancer Center patient care needs at the Barrett Cancer Center in Clifton. Funds from previous Slice event fundraisers have been used to buy much needed cancer treatment equipment and to support other immediate cancer patient needs.
“We live in the greatest community in the world, and it is so important that people living here have the opportunity for the healthiest, happiest and longest lives possible,” said William Barrett, MD, co-director of the UC Cancer Center. “We are diligently working to minimize the burden of cancer in our community — for Greater Cincinnati to have both the lowest rate of cancer and the best possible outcomes.”
Since its inception in 2014, Cincinnati Magazine’s Slice events have raised $176,600 for the UC Cancer Center. This year’s goal is to raise $20,000 for the UC Cancer Center by the end of Slice Week.
“We are sorry that the event will not be in person this year, but our spirit is as strong as ever,” said Syed Ahmad, MD, co-director of the UC Cancer Center. “As part of Slice Night and now Slice Week, you are an integral member of our team working to have the very best cancer care in our community. We are so grateful for your help and support.”
Cincinnati Magazine’s Slice Week 2020 is presented by Western Southern Financial Group, Presto Foods, Airheads, Perfetti van Melle and Jim Beam. For more information about Cincinnati Magazine and its annual fundraisers and events, visit cincinnatimagazine.com/events.
