UC Real Estate Center announces new executive director

The University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business is pleased to announce the appointment of Carl L. Goertemoeller, BBA ’79, as the new executive director of the UC Real Estate Center. Goertemoeller will assume duties as executive director on Sept. 21, 2020.

“The UC Real Estate Center fosters a thriving community — providing a hub for expertise, talent, and learning that supports students to established industry leaders. I’m thrilled to have Carl Goertemoeller at the helm,” said Lindner College of Business Dean Marianne W. Lewis, PhD. “His industry expertise, passion for experiential learning and inclusive excellence, and proven success in developing deep partnerships will fuel the Center’s continued growth and impact.”  

The UC Real Estate Center within the Lindner College of Business is recognized for high quality research and academic programs as well as its extensive connections to the local real estate community. Goertemoeller will oversee the relationship between the Center and its students in the program, as well as center activities such as the UC Real Estate Roundtable series, and the Real Estate Center annual dinner.

“I’m honored to be presented with this opportunity to lead the Real Estate Center, which will allow me to work closely with our numerous business partners as well as the very talented students in our real estate program,” said Goertemoeller. “This critical intersection between business community and people interested in the study of real estate is what makes our program thrive and is what the Real Estate Center strives to promote and develop."

Associate Professor of Real Estate Mike Eriksen served as the interim director of the UC Real Estate Center and Program for the past year. Eriksen will continue to serve the Center as the real estate program academic director. 

“We are very excited to have Carl as the new executive director of the UC Real Estate Center,” said Eriksen.“ His success as an industry leader and experience with the Roundtable Series and our supporters make him an ideal candidate for the position.”

Goertemoeller currenty serves as principal and founder of CLG Real Estate Advisory, a real estate advisory firm. Most recently, he worked as chief business development officer at Viking Partners, a Cincinnati-based private equity investment firm. Prior to Viking, he retired after a 16-year career at Macy’s, Inc. having served as senior vice president of real estate overseeing all real estate matters for the corporation. Prior to joining Macy’s, Mr. Goertemoeller was vice president of development at Simon Property Group in Indianapolis and also held a positions at Federated Department Stores and General Electric Corporation.

Currently Goertemoeller serves on the asset committee of the Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC). Previously he served on the board of executive advisors in real estate (BEARE) for the UC Real Estate Center, the board of directors of the Downtown Cincinnati Improvement District and board of directors of Downtown Cincinnati, Inc.

“The Board of Executive Advisors in Real Estate (BEARE) is delighted that Carl will become the executive director of the UC Real Estate Center,” said BEARE Chair Mario San Marco. “Carl brings so many experiences that he has gained across the country together with his broad real estate knowledge and communication skills. We look forward to Carl growing and strengthening the real estate program for the benefit of the students, university and the real estate industry both locally and nationally.” 

Goertemoeller received his bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in finance and economics, from Lindner, and received his MBA in business administration from Miami University.
