Ohio Cyber Range Institute to host bootcamp
Many Ohio residents can participate in this IT certificate training at no cost
Coming up next week is the beginning of the second annual Ohio Cyber Range Institute “Cybersecurity Bootcamp,” taking place between Oct. 19 and Nov. 15, 2020. This intensive three-week, online bootcamp is a collaboration between the School of Information Technology and the Office of Professional and Continuing Education.
This newly formed CECH partnership is designed to extend certificate program opportunities to members of the University of Cincinnati and broader communities, and open pathways to student matriculation. Ohio residents are eligible to apply for no-charge participation in the bootcamps. Read more about the OCRI Cybersecurity Bootcamps.
The bootcamp prepares students for the exam for CompTIA Security+ or Network+ certification. The format allows students to work at their own pace online with assistance from live panel sessions. There is no cost to Ohio residents who are low income, partially unemployed or totally unemployed, once approved. Non-Ohio residents are eligible for a discount.
The no-cost option is funded by a grant application submitted in collaboration with the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, Office of Professional and Continuing Education, and Career Education to the State of Ohio Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation. The grant was awarded in September to provide training in technology-focused microcredentials. In addition to the Cybersecurity Bootcamp, five other IT certificate training courses are offered at no-cost tuition for eligible Ohio residents. Read more about IT Certificate Training programs.
In addition, learners who successfully complete this program will be eligible for support services through UC’s NEXT Apprenticeship program, which is designed to help find new work opportunities, including tech-related apprenticeships.
