Why I chose UC's RN to BSN Online Program
Easy credit transfer, flexible classes and low tuition rates brought me to UC

I spent six years at home with my kids before I felt I had outgrown that period of my life and started working as a school nurse. Even though I wasn’t yet required to earn a BSN, I knew it could eventually become an issue, so I started researching RN to BSN programs. At that point, my youngest child was two and my husband has a busy job, so program flexibility was a top priority for me.
I knew of UC's RN to BSN Online program because I previously lived in Cincinnati and worked as an RN at Cincinnati Children's with many nurses who were going through UC's program. When I looked into it, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that my previous general education credits would be accepted and transferred without headaches, despite the many years since I had earned them. The program was also reasonably priced and allowed for the flexibility I was looking for — not only could I go as fast or as slow as my life allowed, but also the way assignment deadlines were laid out provided me with structure to move forward without feeling stressed out.

What I didn’t know when I chose UC was how committed its instructors and professors are to ensuring students succeed. They will go out of their way to support you and make sure you’re getting the work done. It’s so easy to reach my professors. They’re quick to jump on a call or schedule a meeting when something comes up. At the height of COVID, I had to do contact tracing at work until 8 p.m., then come home to my three kids. I don’t think I would have been able to complete my degree if it wasn’t for the flexibility and support of the program.
At this point in my life, I've been a nurse for a while and have a lot of experience. I wanted to get my degree from a solid institution. I wanted to feel proud to have earned a degree from a reputable program. And I’m glad I’m doing what I felt was right for me, as I’ve been able to direct all my school projects and papers toward my job as a school nurse. It's sort of a closed loop as I'm learning things that I can apply in my practice at work.
