UC faculty-staff intranet complete

Bearcats Landing establishes centralized digital hub for employee work tools, resources and news

The UC intranet project, sponsored by the Office of the Provost, Administration and Finance and Digital Technology Solutions, has finished Phase I establishing the university’s inaugural intranet.

Bearcats Landing, which requires a UC login, serves as an online hub for UC faculty and staff to share information and access academic, research and business tools as well as employee resources. The intranet provides a central repository for news, events, workshops, documents, policies, and more in one digital space.

“This innovative project is transforming how we communicate and share information within the university,” said Valerio Ferme, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost. “The completion of a university intranet establishes a digital workspace that unites faculty and staff regardless of their campus location, college or unit while also increasing awareness of university projects, initiatives and offerings.”

Intranets are designed to streamline business processes and enhance communication and collaboration, which helps shape the employee experience and develop an inclusive culture.

Instead of visiting multiple websites to access tools and information, employees can now visit my.uc.edu to access everything they need to do their job, which creates operational efficiencies

Bearcats Landing, a desktop and mobile friendly platform, works hand-in-hand with Microsoft Office 365 tools including One Drive and Teams, providing employees an efficient and seamless experience for personalized document storage, group collaboration and enterprise communication and engagement.

Phase II of the intranet project will focus on integrations with Microsoft Teams, content development, and a strategy for electronic forms, approvals and workflows.

“As we look at the university’s digital landscape creating efficient and inclusive digital work processes allows us to transform how we engage, connect, work and innovate across multiple platforms and our varied campuses,” said Bharath Prabhakaran, vice president and chief digital officer for UC.

About Bearcats Landing

UC’s intranet project kicked off in late 2019 with multiple envisioning sessions. Faculty and staff from colleges and business units discussed needs, key priorities and gave input on navigational elements along with internal-facing content to be transitioned from UC’s public website.

Throughout the project 93 sites were built representing 16 colleges, 69 business units and 8 employee organizations. More than 320 content creators and 210 site managers have completed training and are responsible for content management of their sites.

The Bearcats Landing project has been recognized globally for video/audio content and online media design. In 2019, Bearcats Landing was named a MarCom Gold Award winner and in 2022 the project received a Gold dotcom Award. dotCOMM Awards is an international competition honoring excellence in web creativity and digital communication. MarCom Awards honors excellence in marketing and communication and is administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals
