UC Law lecture features greatest hits in bad international contract drafting

Jacob Katz Cogan, associate dean of academic affairs and Joseph P. Kinneary Professor of Law at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, and Aaron Bernay, partner, Frost Brown Todd, will be the guest speakers for the CLE-event “Greatest Hits in Bad International Contract Drafting: Legal & Practical Considerations”.

The event will be held 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Thursday, April 13 at the Offices of the U.S Commercial Service - Cincinnati (525 Vine Street, Top Floor, Cincinnati, OH  45202).

About the CLE-event

Join us for a working lunch to hear common (and sometimes hilarious!) drafting errors made in international sales contracts. The event also will feature a panel of professionals attending the LLM Program at University of Cincinnati College of Law.

About the participants

Jacob Katz Cogan, associate dean of academic affairs, Joseph P. Kinneary Professor of Law, and faculty director, Cincinnati Center for the Global Practice of Law. Professor Cogan teaches contracts, international business transactions, international tax, & public international law. He earned his JD from Yale Law School, his MA and PhD in History from Princeton University, and his BA, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the College of Law, Professor Cogan served as an attorney-adviser in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State. He also served as counsel for the United States at the International Court of Justice.

Aaron Bernay, partner, Frost Brown Todd. Mr. Bernay’s primary focus is on complex business litigation. He serves as vice chair of Frost Brown Todd’s (FBT) International Services Practice Group, heads their Middle East & North Africa (MENA) desk, and chairs the firm’s International Dispute Resolution working group. Prior to joining FBT, he worked for the international trade practice of a Washington, D.C. law firm and served as Notes & Comments Editor of the University of Cincinnati Law Review. Mr. Bernay is an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, teaching International Business Transactions. He received his JD from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, his AM from Harvard University and his BA from George Washington University.
