WCPO: Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month series

UC faculty and students share their personal stories with local journalists

Two faculty members and one student have been profiled by WCPO-TV as part of a series celebrating May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI). Since 1990, the U.S. government has designated May as AAPI month to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.

WCPO-TV aired three segments featuring the stories of Jenn Dye, PhD, director of the Jones Center for Race, Gender and Social Justice at UC Law; Thomas Gamboa, PhD, assistant professor and assistant director of wind studies at CCM; and Aashka Raval, a fourth-year UC student and founder of the student group United Asian Advocates. Other WCPO segments feature additional residents from Greater Cincinnati in honor of AAPI month.
