New Version of Microsoft Teams coming Feb. 27
Digital Technology Solutions will begin rolling out the new version of Microsoft Teams to all University of Cincinnati students, faculty and staff on Tuesday, Feb. 27. All Teams accounts will automatically update to the new version of Teams on March 31.
What’s happening?
Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 27, students, faculty and staff who are using the classic Teams app will receive an on-screen prompt inviting them to switch to the new Teams app.
- Select “Switch now” to immediately switch over to the new Teams app.
- Select “Switch when I’m not using Teams” to allow Teams to update automatically when you’re not actively using it.
While you familiarize yourself with the new Teams app, you can always go back to the Classic Teams app by following the steps below.
- Select the three dots (…) in the top-right hand corner of the screen.
- Select the “New Teams” toggle switch to revert to Classic Teams.
What's new?
The new version of Teams offers a simpler, more polished, and responsive design that’s easier to navigate and get more done. Other improvements include:
- It's faster. The new Teams opens and allows you to join meetings twice as fast as Teams Classic. You can also switch between chats and channels up to 1.7 times faster.
- Uses up to 50% less memory than Teams Classic, allowing for better computer performance.
