CCM students receive 5 awards and 16 nominations from NATAS Ohio Valley Chapter
The awards recognize CCM Media Production student work in a variety of award categories
Media Production students from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music won 5 awards and 16 nominations in the 2024 Student Production Awards from the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). The nominations span 10 categories from non-fiction and fiction to arts/entertainment and sports.
The Student Production Award winners were announced on August 18. CCM award winners included "Redacted" in the Fiction - Short or Long Form and the Photographer categories; "Poison by Feems" in the Arts/Entertainment/Cultural Affairs, Magazine Program & Lifestyle, or Music Video category; "A Recorder for Shaunsen" in the Writer category; and "Proust" in the Editor category. With 16 total nominations, CCM Media Production received more recognition than any other college or university degree program in the four-state Ohio Valley Chapter of NATAS.
The videos were created and produced by CCM Media Production students, and also feature work by CCM Acting, Dance and Theatre Design and Production students.
"This is a record number of nominations for our division," says Professor Donald Hancock. "The films are interdisciplinary and feature work by other CCM students in acting, dance and theatre design and production. Filmmaking is truly a collaborative process and having the support of other programs within CCM truly helps elevate the student films created in Media Production."

In addition to the Student Production Award nominations listed above, the Ohio Valley Chapter of NATAS granted a prestigious scholarship to another CCM student. Debra Najor, a rising senior in CCM's Acting program, received the $3,000 Board of Governors scholarship.
Previously, Media Production students Clark Comstock and Chloe Otterback also received the Board of Governors scholarship, giving CCM three winners in the past five years.
Spotlight: National and Regional NATAS Emmy Wins
CCM students aren't the only ones being recognized by the NATAS. Alumni and a faculty member were also recently recognized in national and regional awards:
- Professor Joe Brackman was nominated for an Ohio Valley Emmy in the Director category for a UC Basketball Composite. The awards take place on July 20, 2024, at the Central Bank Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
- "Monday Night Football with Peyton & Eli" on ESPN2 by Omaha Productions won a National Sports Emmy for Outstanding Live Series. This show features the work of alumna Caitlyn Logsdon (BFA Media Production, '22), a content associate.
- “The Trail” won a Northwest Regional Emmy in the Sports Program - Post-Produced or Edited category. This show features the work of alumna Paula Gibson Pujol (BFA Media Production, '19), editor.
