Proposed legislation could help students with housing costs
UC alumni, leadership speak on proposal to use Section 8 housing vouchers to pay for housing
Proposed federal legislation would allow eligible students to access the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Housing Choice Voucher Program — or section 8 housing vouchers — to pay for on- and off-campus housing.
If passed, it’s anticipated that the proposal would be of significant benefit to first-generation college students and those who are or have been in foster care and emancipated minors.

Because the University of Cincinnati pioneered 1mpact House, the first program in the nation to specifically provide housing, academic and community support for first-generation students (which make up almost 25% of UC undergraduates), local media came to the UC alumni and leadership as well as U.S. Representative Greg Landsman about the proposal.
