UC emergency medicine resident sings national anthem before Bengals game

Area media report on local doctor who sang at final preseason game

For one UC Medical Center emergency medicine doctor, she will always remember the final preseason Bengals game of this year.

Saie Joshi, MD, performed the national anthem before the game Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024 at Paycor Stadium. The story was covered locally by WLWT, WCPO and Spectrum News, and nationally by Yahoo.

Joshi grew up in Mason, Ohio, but had never been to a Bengals game until now.

While she is passionate about saving lives as part of the emergency medicine residency program within the UC College of Medicine, she’s also passionate about singing.

"In residency, we work like 60-to-80-hour weeks, and it's pretty tough. To be adding that sort of, like, expressive side back into my life, that feels like a gift," Joshi said. "And to share this with my community, it's huge."

Joshi's family was there to see her sing, including family members she said traveled from India to watch her perform.

"I was just like, wow, this is real. Like, pinch me," Joshi said.
