Summer of giving with Hoxworth Blood Center
Fueling local heroes and saving lives
Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is getting into the summer spirit with a focus on giving. Summer can be a tough season for the blood supply, and Hoxworth is relying on its donors to show support and donate blood.
Saving lives in June
During the month of June, when you give blood at any of Hoxworth’s seven neighborhood donor centers and select mobile drives, you will receive an e-gift card and a coupon for a FREE Biggby coffee as a thank you for saving lives.
Thank you gift cards for donors
Whole blood donors will get a $10 e-gift card, and each double red or platelet donor will receive a $20 e-gift card. These can be used at any of more than 100 national retailers, including Amazon, Chipotle and Kroger.
Summer is a season of vacations, but the need for blood never takes a break.
David Oh, MD Co-director & chief medical officer, Hoxworth Blood Center
"Summer is a season of vacations, but the need for blood never takes a break,” says David Oh, MD, Hoxworth Blood Center co-director and chief medical officer. “Every donation can save up to three lives — and right now, that need is especially urgent. We invite all eligible donors to make a difference today. Your single act of generosity can be someone’s second chance.”
Biggby Coffee teams up to fuel donors
Hoxworth is proud to welcome our newest neighborhood partner, Biggby Coffee, to the family! Together, we’re not just fueling mornings — we’re fueling heroes. Every blood donation you make helps save the life of a local patient right here in our community. And Biggby Coffee gets it.
In June, when you roll up your sleeve at any of our seven neighborhood donor centers, Biggby Coffee wants to thank you with a FREE coffee at any of its 32 locations in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Learn more at: https://hoxworth.org/biggby.html
Embracing healthy habits this summer
Even though summer is a time for relaxation and taking a break from your normal routine, Hoxworth hopes you will continue your #HoxworthHabit throughout the year. Remember, when you take time to donate blood — you are saving lives close to home.
