Putting a UC expert’s recommendation to the test
Holiday shopping can be difficult.
That’s why WLWT turned to Lindner College of Business professor Sachin Modi for insights on if large language models like ChatGPT can be helpful in finding more tailored gifts for loved ones.
Modi, head of the department of operations, business analytics and information systems (OBAIS), described how artificial intelligence (AI) can be integrated into both the online and in-person shopping experience.
“Something really exciting that has changed in this last year is AI is now available both to consumers and online retailers,” Modi told WLWT. “You can brainstorm with ChatGPT on what might be the best gifts you could give to someone. You could also use technology to try and figure out how you can stay within your budget.”
WLWT then put this idea to the test, surveying shoppers at Rookwood Commons. The more specific shoppers were to the AI model, the better the recommendations were.
