UC expert explains how to prepare for tax season

Local 12 reported that taxpayers can expect some major changes this tax season.

Gary Friedhoff, adjunct instructor at the University of Cincinnati’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business, recently spoke to Local 12 about how to avoid surprises. 

He said that preparation and record-keeping still remain the best tools, even as regulations shift. 

“Organized records help support deductions,” Friedhoff said. “Credits are critical if you’re ever audited. If you can’t substantiate the requirements, the credit is gone.”

Charitable contributions, car purchases and the switch to digital payment only are just some of the impacted aspects of the tax code.
