Download the Duo Mobile App to stay connected to UC systems

Duo authentication with SMS text messages and phone calls ended in January

Students, faculty, and staff still using SMS text messaging or phone calls to authenticate with Duo at the University of Cincinnati need to switch to the Duo Mobile app as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted access to UC systems.

Duo Mobile supports Duo Push, which provides the most secure and user-friendly authentication experience.

This change is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance security and protect users from increasingly sophisticated phishing attacks that target these less secure methods.

Learn more and find instructions under “How to switch from Text/Call to Duo Push” at uc.edu/2fa

No smartphone or tablet? No problem!

Alternative secure Duo authentication methods are available. For more information on these options, or if you require accessibility accommodation related to this change, please visit uc.edu/2fa.

Additional details to know.

Duo has announced support updates:

  • Effective March 31, 2026 - Duo will require Mobile App versions of 4.85.0 or higher.
  • Effective April 16, 2026 – Duo will end support of Apple iOS 16 and Android 11.
