UC Clermont Gallery Presents Photographer Mark Lindsey

Born and raised in Kentucky, Mark Lindsey had a close relationship with nature. Staring up at the sky, he was encouraged by his mother to see in the clouds that what was not there: elephants, dogs, trains and sometimes himself.

When Lindsey was in the fourth grade, it was determined that he was near-sighted and in need of glasses. His first trip home with his new eyesight was a revelation; stepping out of the car he looked up at the trees that he loved and for the first time saw the leaves, crisp and alive, dancing in the breeze. This discovery of simple beauty is what Lindsey tries to convey in every image that he creates, trying to share with the viewer the original wonderment that he felt at that moment.

The UC Clermont Art Gallery presents photographer Mark Lindsey through May 24 his black and white images depict still life and the simple beauty of nature.

Lindsey moved to Santa Barbara, California to attend Brooks Institute of Photography and earned a B.F.A. He now resides in Batavia, OH, where he works as an advertising photographer.
