Beyond Civility

, a program to promote respectful discourse and greater understanding between people with differences, is sponsoring a program featuring UC President Santa J. Ono and Cincinnati State President O’Dell M. Owens at

6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28,

at Hebrew Union College.

The Side-by-Side Series/University Presidents Edition is designed to break down stereotypes and allow each president to discuss their unique personal background and how it influences their priorities and their leadership styles. Time will be allotted for audience questions. A reception precedes the event at

Beyond Civility, an initiative launched to counter the lack of civility often shown in public discourse, was founded by Bob Rack, retired chief circuit mediator, and Bea Larsen, senior mediator at the Center for Dispute Resolutions. It is convened by U.S. District Court Judge Tim Black and Hamilton County Judge Beth Myers.

The event featuring Ono and Owens will take place in the Mayerson Room, HUC, 3101 Clifton Avenue. Admission is free. Reservations are required. Walk-ins are accepted only after those registered are seated.
