Annual MLK Blood Drive Set for Jan. 19

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘what are you doing for others?’”

These wise words spoken by Martin Luther King, Jr. are as true and important today as they were in his lifetime.

On Monday, Jan. 19, Hoxworth Blood Center and The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center have teamed up to provide a way to give back to others on a day focused on answering King’s question, “what are you doing for others?”

The Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Blood Drive will be held from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the center located at 50 East Freedom Way.

Each donor will receive FREE museum admission at the center, one FREE AMC movie ticket and will be registered to win a pair of tickets to a UC men’s basketball game courtesy of UC Foundation/Development for Diversity & Inclusion.

Every blood donation has the potential to save up to three lives.

From the pitch to personal impact

May 11, 2026

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is uniting blood donors around one shared mission — saving lives close to home — through two unique blood drives this May. From the FC Cincinnati Blood Drive at TQL Stadium to an event honoring local blood recipient and cancer survivor John Mattingly, these blood drives offer meaningful ways to give back. Whether inspired by hometown pride or a powerful personal story, blood donors are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and help ensure life-saving blood is available for patients across the Tristate. Patients at local hospitals depend on blood donations every day, and community support is critical to maintaining a strong supply.
