All-Campus Blood Drive Set for First Week in February

The winter months are the time of year when blood donations are often down, and Hoxworth Blood Center counts on the University of Cincinnati to help keep a safe level of available blood products for those in need.

The annual UC Blood Drive is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 2 through Friday, Feb. 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. It will be held in the Tangeman University Center (TUC).

“I donate blood every chance I get because I received the benefits of blood donation first hand,” said Mimi Castanias, donor and UC student. “My grandfather was diagnosed with cancer seven years ago and received transfusions during his treatment. I had had surgery about four years ago and had to receive platelets during the procedure. After seeing how much of an impact blood donation can make, I decided it was something I really needed to do. Also, being able to donate and give back with my Tri Delta sisters is always a great time!”

And back by popular demand, every donor will receive a FREE $5 Chipotle gift card.

From the pitch to personal impact

May 11, 2026

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is uniting blood donors around one shared mission — saving lives close to home — through two unique blood drives this May. From the FC Cincinnati Blood Drive at TQL Stadium to an event honoring local blood recipient and cancer survivor John Mattingly, these blood drives offer meaningful ways to give back. Whether inspired by hometown pride or a powerful personal story, blood donors are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and help ensure life-saving blood is available for patients across the Tristate. Patients at local hospitals depend on blood donations every day, and community support is critical to maintaining a strong supply.
