Provost Named to Harvard National Advisory Council Focused on Faculty Success

. When UC Provost Beverly Davenport was invited to join the National Advisory Council for the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) this spring, UC joined impressive company.
is a Harvard-based consortium that focuses its data-driven efforts to improve faculty recruitment, development and retention. It has worked with more than 200 colleges, universities and systems to increase faculty success.
Davenport is no stranger to COACHE and its value.
During her tenure at Purdue University, Davenport oversaw the schools first-ever COACHE survey, which led to strategic, specific action by the university to address major faculty concerns. UC plans to roll out its first COACHE survey in the upcoming academic year.
Im so honored to join this prestigious team of higher education leaders who understand the importance of our faculty and work at a systemic level to support faculty, said Davenport, who serves as UCs chief academic officer.
As provost, Davenport is leading aggressive faculty recruitment initiatives, including cluster hiring in key research areas, strategic opportunity hiring to increase the number of women and underrepresented faculty members across the University and a new dual career assistance program to help with both the retention and recruitment of faculty. At the same time, she has increased faculty development funding and leadership development initiatives to support faculty success and create a pipeline of administrative talent within UC's faculty.
