UC Parking Services Announces July 1 Rate Increases while Initiating Construction Projects on All Garages
Rate Increases
During the past 10 years, Parking Services has been able to keep rate changes to a minimum with a 1.8% average increase. However, upcoming projects and aging facilities place a demand on capital resources; these include a new access system that will enhance the customer experience, as well as structural repair work.
The new rates beginning July 1 are as follows:
$107 CCM, Varsity Village, McMicken Drive, AA (currently $104)
$93 Clifton Court, Calhoun, Kingsgate, Zone A (currently $90)
$80 Woodside, Campus Green, Eden, Stratford (currently $78)
$54 University Avenue, Corry (currently $52)
$44 Lot 13, Lot 16, Lot 22, GRI (currently $43)
$23 Winslow, Reading Road (currently $22)
Parking Services is an auxiliary operation of the university and therefore receives no direct university or state funding. Parking revenue offsets expenses related to the operation of the department and allows for the completion of large-scale capital projects.
Payroll Deduction Improvements
As the new parking access system is put into service, the payroll deduction process will also be modified to improve the customer experience and create efficiencies in the system.
Beginning July 1, bi-weekly paid employees will now see the deduction on the last paycheck of the month instead of the first.
Also
beginning July 1, payroll deduction for monthly paid employees will cover parking costs for the same period as the check,
rather than the following month. To implement this change, there will be no payroll deduction on the June 30 paycheck.
Woodside and Campus Green Garage Repairs
Parking Services will be making structural repairs on Woodside and Campus Green Garages from June 1, 2015 through August 23, 2015.
Woodside Garage will be closed at Level 3. Levels 1 and 2 will be available for permit holders only. While there will be no cash parking available in Woodside Garage during the repairs, cash parking will be available in the Campus Green Garage.
Campus Green Garage will be available for permit holders and visitors throughout the construction process. Repairs will be occurring on multiple levels; however operations will be maintained as normally as possible during this time.
University Avenue Garage Repairs
University Avenue Garage will be the first garage to undergo conversion to the new parking access system and is the only garage expected to be closed during the gate access transition because of the nature of the repairs included. It is anticipated that the garage will close on June 8 and reopen on June 25. The schedule is weather dependent and may change. University Avenue Lot will remain open during the construction process for Reciprocity and Campus Recreation parkers.
During this process, all University Avenue Garage permit holders will have access to Campus Green Garage. All cars must be removed from the garage by Saturday at noon in order to prepare the construction site. Cash parking will no longer be available beginning Friday, June 5.
Future communications sent directly to permit holders will detail the transition process for these and other garages to keep them updated on progress.
