UC's Beta Alpha Psi Earns Most Improved Chapter Award

UC's Alpha Sigma chapter of Beta Alpha Psi received the award for "Most Improved Chapter" by the national office, an honor that followed a year of increased membership, presentations at both regional and national meetings and a climb to "superior" status within the organization. The chapter has also been selected to host next year’s regional meeting.

Beta Alpha Psi is a national honor society dedicated to promoting the fields of information systems, finance, and accounting, while developing young leadership and community service. Each year, the organization honors its member institutions with awards based on each chapter's involvement within the organization, hours served in the community and hours worked professionally.

"We are incredibly proud of our accomplishments and plan on reinvesting the $500 award into our members through an application based scholarship,” says Zac Powers, president of UC's Alpha Sigma chapter.

Beta Alpha Psi has more than 300 chapters worldwide, with each creating a set of goals based on three tenents: mission based, distinguished and superior. After the 2014-15 academic year was completed and these internal goals were examined, UC’s ranking shot to number 41 within the organization, qualifying them for this national honor.

There are certain requirements to join the Alpha Sigma chapter of Beta Alpha Psi — to be seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting, information systems or finance, to maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and to have acquired at least 30 credit hours.
