Celebrate National Volunteer Blood Donor Month

The frosty winter months are upon us, so come in to donate blood and go home with a coffee mug to help you keep warm!

January is National Volunteer Blood Donor Month and Hoxworth will be celebrating our life-saving donors by giving them an “Every Drop Counts” coffee mug at our Neighborhood Donor Centers through Jan. 30.

“January is a special month for our blood center as we look forward to the New Year and the challenges that lie ahead,” said Gregg Booth, Associate Director at Hoxworth. “We, like all blood centers, are reliant on the graciousness of others to give both of their time and their blood to help their fellow man, especially in the winter season.   Donations tend to slow and, at times, we can reach a point where literally “Every Drop Counts” in order to support the community need. Not only are we recognizing the importance of our donors during National Volunteer Blood Donor Month, but we hope that our small token of appreciation conveys the importance of our donors in helping patients in the Greater Cincinnati community. Thank you to each and every one of you for your commitment to blood donation.”

Neighborhood Donor Centers are conveniently located in the following areas:

• Anderson
• Blue Ash
• Central (Clifton)
• Downtown
• Ft. Mitchell
• Mason
• Tri-County
• Western Hills

Hoxworth is always in need of lifesaving blood. Schedule an appointment by calling (513) 451-0910 or visit www.hoxworth.org.

From the pitch to personal impact

May 11, 2026

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is uniting blood donors around one shared mission — saving lives close to home — through two unique blood drives this May. From the FC Cincinnati Blood Drive at TQL Stadium to an event honoring local blood recipient and cancer survivor John Mattingly, these blood drives offer meaningful ways to give back. Whether inspired by hometown pride or a powerful personal story, blood donors are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and help ensure life-saving blood is available for patients across the Tristate. Patients at local hospitals depend on blood donations every day, and community support is critical to maintaining a strong supply.
