2,817 Lives Saved by UC Blood Drive

UC students, faculty and staff rolled up their sleeves the week of Sept. 12 to help save lives in their community with blood donations.

“The event was a great success in registering 1,200 blood donors; of which 467 were first time donors, reports Alecia Lipton, public information officer with the Hoxworth Blood Center. "The week-long event collected 939 lifesaving products which will help to save over 2,817 lives in Tri-State hospitals.”

“The success of this blood drive is vital to patients in the hospitals that we serve, as donations have been lower than adequate during the summer months,” says Lipton.

The next UC All Campus Blood Drive will be Nov. 28 thru Dec. 2 in TUC Great Hall. To schedule your next appointment, call (513) 451-0910 or visit hoxworth.org/uc.

From the FC Cincinnati Blood Drive at TQL Stadium to an event honoring local blood recipient and cancer survivor John Mattingly, these blood drives offer meaningful ways to give back. Whether inspired by hometown pride or a powerful personal story, blood donors are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and help ensure life-saving blood is available for patients across the Tristate. Patients at local hospitals depend on blood donations every day, and community support is critical to maintaining a strong supply.
