DAAP Graduate Leads Communiversity 3D Printing Course

In this Communiversity class, students will be introduced to 3D printing technology, history, and the types of things you can make with a 3D printer. This class provides a hands-on experience in designing and printing 3D models and functional products for home and hobbies. This course will also review the history and technology of 3D printing, printer set-up, use and troubleshooting. By the end of the class, you will be prepared and set-up to 3D print at home.

UC instructor, David Parrott, is the director of product development at Polar 3D, a Cincinnati-based 3D printing start-up that provides a comprehensive 3D printing platform for STEAM education. Parrott holds both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from UC’s #1 ranked College of Design, Architecture, Arts and Planning, and has spent more than a decade working in the fields of medical and consumer product design and engineering. He has also worked as an adjunct instructor for UC's Biomedical Engineering department.

The Ohio Cyber Range Institute at the University of Cincinnati recently received $227,000 from the Ohio Controlling Board., reported Local 12 News. The OCRI manages the Ohio Cyber Range on behalf of the state. It is a statewide, collaborative network that supports cybersecurity programs across Ohio.
