UC Social Media Week Returns April 3-6

UC's Social Media Week engages student, faculty, staff and community voices in a collaborative, educational environment centered on the evolving use of social media to influence real change in the world. Organizers are excited to bring an unfiltered view of all things social for this third annual event. Save the date for the week of April 3-6, 2017. 

The event includes daily Pinterest crafting parties with Gild Collective, professional headshot photography and activities at a Social Media Week booth in TUC. 

On Thursday, April 6, UC will host an entire day of programming aimed at connecting students, faculty, staff, professionals and the Greater Cincinnati community — a UC Social Media Summit. Speakers from the Cincinnati business community, UC faculty and staff members and special keynote addresses will highlight the summit. Find a full lineup of speakers and panelists here.

What parvovirus is and why it's on the rise

An infectious virus common in children is on the rise in the Tristate. The Cincinnati Health Department is warning of a rise in parvovirus in Hamilton County. The illness can present itself as a rash on the cheeks and is often called “slapped cheek” disease but can present more serious concerns in pregnant women. Kara Markham, MD, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine recently appeared on Cincinnati Edition on WVXU to discuss how parvovirus is transmitted, the risk of serious cases and how to prevent it.
