Volunteer a 'Helping Hand' to Incoming Students

For new Bearcats and their families, moving into residence halls for the first time is exciting! Greeting our new students properly can only be achieved with the help of a large number of volunteers.

Helping Hands, comprised primarily of faculty and staff, have been assisting Bearcats in this process for 16 years. The volunteers welcome, assist with directions, answer questions, provide water, and help unload vehicles.

We hope you will extend your support and hospitality this year by becoming a Helping Hands volunteer.

We ask for a three to four-hour shift and we certainly appreciate any amount of time you can provide.

Volunteer dates and locations:

TUESDAY, AUG. 15:

Turner/Schneider Halls, University Park Apartments, and U-Square Apartments

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 16:

Calhoun Hall,

Campus Park Apartments,

Daniels Hall,

and Morgens Hall

THURSDAY, AUG. 17:

Campus Rec Housing, Dabney Hall, Scioto Hall,

Siddall Hall

, and Stratford Heights

The halls listed in italics are the locations where the most help is needed.

Please consider this when registering as a volunteer. We will make every effort to assign volunteers to their preferred hall, however, we may need to adjust to ensure coverage.

Plan to attend the “All Hands” meeting on Wednesday, August 2, from 1 – 2 p.m. in Tangeman University Center’s Great Hall

on level 4 to review the hall opening plans and receive a Helping Hands t-shirt (new volunteers). Schedules and assignments will be distributed as well.

In appreciation for your efforts, all volunteers and coordinators will receive a

FREE lunch at CenterCourt Dining Center or MarketPointe@Siddall

on the day you work, and a

FREE day pass to the Campus Recreation Center

on a day of your choice. Employees who are eligible for the Be Well UC program can earn 20 bonus points for volunteering! See

uc.edu/hr/bewelluc/events

for details.

We hope you can join us to personally welcome students and parents to the Bearcats family and personally thank each of them for choosing UC! To get started, enlist here:
