UC Selected as Launch Partner for NABE Certified Business Economist Certification

Students in Lindner’s Master of Science in Applied Economics program can now earn the

National Association for Business Economics

(NABE) Certified Business Economist (CBE) professional certification alongside their UC degree.

Students who earn their graduate degree and CBE certification simultaneously will “enter the job market with a distinct advantage, having mastered a body of applied economics knowledge sought by employers and essential for a successful career in the field of economics and data analytics,” NABE President Stuart Mackintosh says.

NABE, founded in 1959, is the premier professional association for business economists and those who use economics in the workplace.

Launched in 2015, the CBE is a comprehensive professional certification program of study and examination covering topics in applied economics and data analytics. Students enrolled in the UC Master of Science in Applied Economics program will be able to complete the CBE requirements and sit for the CBE exam that will be offered on campus once a year. UC is one of three inaugural university partners in the United States for this new initiative. The program is also being launched at Boston College and Brandeis University.

“Employers can be confident that when they hire a UC Applied Economics graduate with a CBE designation that the individual has demonstrated mastery in the critical thinking and data analysis necessary to provide insights and recommendations for business decisions,” says Michael Jones, PhD, academic director of the MS in Applied Economics program at UC’s Lindner College of Business.
