Step Up to the Plate With Hoxworth
Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati is teaming up with the Cincinnati Reds for the 12th annual Reds Week blood drive, June 18-22.
Blood, plasma and platelet donations will be accepted at any of the seven Hoxworth Neighborhood Donor Centers during the weeklong promotion. Each donor will receive a free limited-edition Reds T-shirt as a thank you for helping save lives in the community.
While the summer is a great time for baseball fans, blood banks across the nation see a drop in donations during the summer months. Our partnership with the Cincinnati Reds is a continually successful way to bring in donors and boost the blood supply, says Alecia Lipton, spokesperson for Hoxworth Blood Center. We are so thankful for the support we receive from the Reds, which helps Hoxworth collect blood donations that are vital to countless patients in our area hospitals.
Last year, the event collected over 2,000 lifesaving blood products, and Lipton hopes for another record-breaking turnout at this years Reds Week.
Due to the anticipated popularity of this event, appointments are highly encouraged. Donors should call 513-451-0910 or visit www.hoxworth.org/reds to schedule their appointment.
