Hoxworth Partners With Cincinnati Zoo for 'Red, White & Zoo' Campaign

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati is partnering with the celebrated Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden from July 2-6 for “Red, White & Zoo.” The promotion offers blood and platelet donors at Hoxworth Neighborhood Donor Centers one free ticket to visit the Cincinnati Zoo.

“Our partnership with the Cincinnati Zoo is one of my favorite promotions every year. As one of Cincinnati’s most famous landmarks, we are thrilled to offer donors this opportunity,” said Alecia Lipton, spokesperson for Hoxworth Blood Center. “Our donors might be lucky enough to see Cincinnati’s favorite hippo, Fiona, during their visit!”

Lipton added that Hoxworth has already experienced shortages of a number of blood types this summer. As the temperatures rise and blood usage increases, donations tend to fall, which can harm Hoxworth’s blood supply.

Hoxworth operates seven Neighborhood Donor Centers within the Tri-State area. Due to the anticipated popularity of this event, appointments are highly encouraged. Donors should call 513-451-0910 or visit www.hoxworth.org/zoo to schedule their appointment.
