Consortium Agreement
A Consortium Agreement allows students to take coursework at more than one higher education institution and potentially receive financial aid through their home institution.
Whether you are a UC student interested in taking courses at another school, or a visiting student taking courses at UC, this page will guide you through the appropriate steps.
UC Students Taking Courses Elsewhere
If you are enrolled in a degree seeking program at UC and plan to take courses at another institution, you may be eligible to receive your financial aid package through UC with a Consortium Agreement.
Student Eligibility:
- UC is your home institution, the school you are visiting is your host institution.
- You must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program at the University of Cincinnati.
- The courses at your host institution must apply towards your degree.
- You must be enrolled at least half-time between UC and your host institution.
- You must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Getting Started:
- Complete the student section of the UC consortium agreement (linked below).
- Meet with your Academic Advisor to ensure the host courses apply towards your degree seeking program. Your advisor should fill out the section titled “To Be Completed by your Academic Advisor”.
- Have your host institution fill out the section titled “To Be Completed by the Host Institution”.
- Provide proof of enrollment (e.g., term bill, class schedule, etc.) and your completed consortium agreement to the Student Financial Aid Study Abroad Inbox at SFAO-STAB@ucmail.uc.edu
Important Things to Note:
- You are responsible for paying the host school directly. UC will disburse funds accordingly to your UC Bursar Account, or your Direct Deposit account on file.
- Upon completion of your course(s), you must request that your official transcript be sent to UC at the end of the term
- If you drop or withdraw from any courses at your host institution, notify UC’s Financial Aid Office immediately by emailing SFAO-STAB@ucmail.uc.edu
- If you plan to participate in a longer-term consortium agreement (attending a host institution for more than one semester), you are required to complete these steps each semester.
Visiting Students Taking Courses at UC
If you are currently enrolled at another higher education institution but plan to take courses at UC, your home institution may allow you to use your financial aid package to assist with UC tuition and fees. You will be filling out your home institutions consortium agreement, not UCs.
Eligibility:
- UC is your host institution, your home institution is another higher education institution.
- You must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program at your home institution.
- The courses taken at UC must apply towards your degree.
Getting Started:
- Work with your home institutions Student Financial Aid Office to initiate their Consortium Agreement process and determine your eligibility.
- Enroll in the appropriate course(s) at UC.
- Send UC your consortium agreement to complete by emailing SFAO-STAB@ucmail.uc.edu. The UC Student Financial Aid Office will list your tuition costs, and confirm your enrollment at UC.
- Send the completed document to your home institution along with your UC term bill.
Imortant Things to Note:
- Your home institution is responsible for disbursing your financial aid.
- You are responsible for paying UC directly and covering any remaining UC tuition and fees by the bill due dates.
- Notify both UC and your home institution if your enrollment status changes at UC. Email UC at SFAO-STAB@ucmail.uc.edu
- Send your home institution a copy of your transcript at the end of the semester. Transcripts can be requested through Catalyst. Instructions and more information can be found here.
Processing Timeline
Processing of consortium agreements for UC and visiting students can take up to 2 weeks depending on time of year, and volume. Please plan ahead to allow sufficient time for the appropriate steps to be taken, prior to semester start dates. Tuition and fees at UC must be paid by the posted deadlines.
