Psychology Intern

Lianna Tullis-Robinson (she/her) is a doctoral intern with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at the University of Cincinnati. She is a doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan University, where her clinical and research interests center on culturally responsive mental health care, trauma, identity, and the experiences of historically underserved communities. She has provided individual and group therapy across a range of settings and enjoys creating collaborative, compassionate spaces where students can explore their experiences and develop tools that support their wellbeing.

Lianna draws primarily from compassion-focused, mindfulness-based, multicultural, and trauma-informed approaches. She is particularly interested in working with students around identity, self-criticism, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions. Her research focuses on culture, mental health disparities, with an emphasis on understanding how cultural experiences and systems of care shape people's perceptions of mental health treatment. She is passionate about reducing barriers to care and helping students feel seen, respected, and supported in their mental health journeys.

My favorite thing about working at CAPS: getting to meet students from so many different backgrounds and being part of a team that genuinely cares about student wellbeing. I also love the opportunity to learn from my colleagues and the UC community while continuing to grow as a clinician.

Coping skills I recommend to clients that I actually use myself: spending time with people I love, getting outside, practicing mindfulness and self-compassion, listening to music, and giving myself permission to laugh at something completely ridiculous when I need a reset.

What I like about Cincinnati: I love discovering the different neighborhoods, restaurants, parks, and little pockets of community throughout the city. Cincinnati has a really interesting mix of history, culture, and personality, and I’m enjoying getting to know it while beginning this new chapter at UC.
