Changes coming to Lynda.com and UCFileSpace

Mark your calendars for upcoming changes to online services

Lynda.com upgrades to LinkedIn Learning Sept. 5

Lynda.com will be unavailable for up to 18-hours on Thursday, Sept. 5, during the upgrade to LinkedIn Learning.

Students, faculty and staff members who have logged into Lynda.com will automatically receive a login invitation from LinkedIn Learning upon the upgrade’s completion.

LinkedIn Learning provides access to the same industry-leading content from Lynda.com. Since LinkedIn acquired Lynda.com, all currently enrolled UC students, faculty and staff will have free access to LinkedIn Learning. Content that was previously available through Lynda.com will also be available in LinkedIn Learning.

UCFileSpace changes set for Dec. 31, 2019

IT@UC will upgrade file storage and webhosting services currently provided by UCFileSpace before the end of the calendar year.

UCFileSpace file storage will be migrated to Microsoft OneDrive — UC’s preferred technology tool to securely store, share and manage files online anytime, anywhere. IT@UC will also refresh and upgrade the technology that powers UCFileSpace’s “homepages.uc.edu” personal web hosting service.

Content becomes “read-only” Wednesday, Dec. 18.

All content stored in UCFileSpace file storage and webhosting services will enter the “read-only” phase of the transition on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

The “read-only” phase will allow content owners to view, open, and download files from UCFileSpace before the official Tuesday, Dec. 31, upgrade date. Edit and re-name files downloaded from UCFileSpace by saving them locally to your computer.

Unit-level IT experts will help IT@UC plan the details.

IT@UC will work closely with IT experts across the university to better accommodate the unit-level impact of the UCFileSpace transition and provide seamless experience for students, faculty, and staff.

From literature to AI: UC grad shares career path to success

April 23, 2024

Before Katie Trauth Taylor worked with international organizations like NASA, Boeing and Hershey, and before receiving accolades for her work in the generative AI space, she was in a much different industry – English and literature. Taylor earned her master's in English and Comparative Literature in UC’s College of Arts and Sciences. She completed her educational journey at Purdue University with a doctorate degree in rhetoric and composition. After working as a graduate assistant at Purdue and UC, she became a research professor at Miami University. It might seem from there that her career was set—perhaps a tenured professorship or a university administrative position.
